We teach primary and secondary school pupils how to react in situations where every second counts. We explain first aid simply, clearly and practically.

They try out what they learn straight away, and through practice they master procedures they may one day really need.

Because first aid is not just knowledge. It is a skill that can save a life.

The Antitobacco project works to prevent smoking and the use of tobacco and nicotine products among young people. We visit primary and secondary schools and, through lectures and discussions, explain the risks and consequences of using these products.

Our project promotes health and the prevention of lifestyle diseases. In our lectures, primary and secondary school pupils learn in a playful way about a healthy lifestyle, nutrition and exercise. We also stress that too much of anything is harmful – which opens the topic of intuitive eating and eating disorders. And finally, we dance Just Dance with them.

The Faculty Blood Drive in Martin encourages students and faculty staff to donate blood. It combines the willingness to help others with a friendly atmosphere and reminds everyone that a single donation can help save a life.

In the Health in Check project we run free check-ups in shopping centres, measuring visitors’ blood glucose, uric acid and cholesterol, blood pressure and BMI. We want to raise awareness of prevention, promote a healthy lifestyle and give the public a basic overview of their health.

Teddy Bear Hospital: a project that shows children there is no need to be afraid of the doctor or of going to see one. During visits to kindergartens, students and children treat our patients together – teddy bears. In a fun, interactive way, the children learn about the most common examinations, first aid, healthy habits and preventing injuries.

The Mental Health project focuses on addiction. It explains what addiction is and what its signs are, includes an internet-addiction test and basic information about cannabis and THC. It uses a story, self-assessment questions and discussion activities.

We are a group of young people – medical students – who want to bring joy and support to seniors with our time and presence. We visit older people, spend time and talk with them, and try to be there for them. Empathy, compassion, respect and genuine interest matter to us. We believe that even a simple visit, a conversation or a moment of attention can make someone feel that they are remembered and not alone.

A volunteering project in which students visit the SPOSA kindergarten for autistic children and the Dúhovka kindergarten for children with visual impairments. During the visits we spend time together – we play, make things, go for walks and do activities that suit the children’s needs and interests.

The project brings children joy and supports their development, while students learn to work with children with special needs and gain valuable experience.

Once a year, on World Autism Awareness Day, we also hold a discussion for students to explain autism, raise awareness and build understanding for people on the autism spectrum.
